Gilmer County Health Department provides a range of clinical public health services including communicable disease prevention and control through disease surveillance, case investigation and follow-up, outbreak investigation, response to epidemics, and prevention and control of sexually-transmitted diseases, vaccine preventable diseases, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and other communicable diseases, promotion of healthy lifestyles and health education as required under W.V. Code 16-2-11 and W.V. 64 C.S.R 73 Standards for Local Boards of Health. This work is performed by the Gilmer County Health Officer and public health nurses licensed by the West Virginia Registered Nurses Board. Clinical public health services are administered in accordance with various rules and procedures as established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the West Virginia State Legislature and the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health.
