General Sanitation

Gilmer County Health Department permits and performs compliance inspection of various establishments as required under W.V. 64 C.S.R. 18 General Sanitation including:

  • Bed & Breakfast Inns
  • Campgrounds
  • Care Facilities
  • Fairs & Festivals
  • Hotels & Motels
  • Institutions
  • Labor Camps
  • Mass Gatherings
  • Organized Camps
  • Recreational Facilities
  • Schools

To obtain a permit, establishments must submit a completed Application for a Permit to Operate with payment of applicable fees to Gilmer County Health Department.  Some establishments must also submit operational and facility plans for review; Gilmer County Health Department can provide further information regarding plans.  Gilmer County Health Department may issue an operational permit following an initial compliance inspection.  Permits must be renewed annually and expire on June 30th.  Establishments are subject to annual (bi-annually for schools) compliance inspections by Gilmer County Health Department.
