Gilmer County Health Department provides a full range of environmental health protection services including the promoting and maintaining of clean and safe air, water, food and facilities and the administering of public health laws as to general sanitation, the sanitation of public drinking water, sewage and wastewater, food and milk, and the sanitation of housing, institutions, and recreation as required under West Virginia Code §16-2-11 and West Virginia 64 C.S.R 73.5.2. This work is performed by a licensed environmental health sanitarian acting under the authority and power of the Gilmer County Health Officer. Environmental health programs are administered in accordance with various rules and procedures as established by the West Virginia State Legislature and the West Virginia Bureau for Public Health.
